Omar Figueroa Jr. swarmed the battle-withered Guerrero from the start and knocked him out violently in the third. Figueroa (27-0-1, 19 KOs) dropped “The Ghost” thrice in the second and when the fight was somehow allowed to continue by referee Ron Lipton, “Panterita” knocked Guerrero down twice more in the third before the mugging finally stopped. Guerrero (33-6-1, 18 KOs) was a shell of his former world champion self and has never suffered a defeat as the one Figueroa gave him.
In the Fox-televised PBC co-feature, light heavyweight Marcus Browne improved to 20-0 with his 15th career knockout when he annihilated Seanie Monaghan within two rounds. Browne was all over “Irish” Seanie from Jump Street and clobbered him from pillar to post and felled him in the first. The beating was mercifully stopped just 40 ticks into the second.
An all-Polish heavyweight encounter got things started in the Fox opener inside Nassau Coliseum in Long Island, N.Y., as Adam Kownacki (16-0, 13 KOs) knocked out Artur Szpilka (20-3, 15 KOs in the fourth. Kownacki dropped Szpilka in what was the final round and then finished him with a barrage of punches, ending the contest at the 1:37 mark.
