Dan Hardy Disagrees with Not Engaging, But Doesn’t Favor Financial Penalties Either
Dan Hardy, on “The Savage Dog Show,” explaining that even though he dislikes it when fighters won’t engage, he doesn’t think they should be penalized financially:
“The whole Pride system with the yellow and red cards, I don’t like it. I never liked it for the basic fact that it’s taking money out of fighters’ pockets and there isn’t a lot of money in the fighters’ pockets in the first place. Taking chunks out of it, that’s just unnecessary because we all work hard regardless of whether we come to fight for 25 minutes or run away for 25 minutes. There’s still a lot of hard work and a lot of bills that go into preparing for a fight. I never liked punishing financially. I don’t really know what the solution is. A lot of the time I think it’s on the fighters. I think the fighters have a responsibility to show up and perform.”
