Mohammad to Rematch Rodrigues Jr. in Euro FC 1 Co-Feature
The inaugural Euro FC event is slowly coming together as the
promotion recently announced that rivals Yosef Ali Mohammad and
Fernando Rodrigues Jr. will square off for the second time in a
heavyweight bout. Their rematch will serve as the co-feature of
Euro FC
1, which goes down Oct. 1 at the Metro Areena in Espoo,
Finland.
The two first met last August in Japan at Inoki Genome Fight 4. Rodrigues Jr. was the victor in that contest as he stopped Mohammad in the 1:39 into the first round courtesy of a volley of punches.
“I am looking forward to fighting in Europe for the first time,”
Rodrigues Jr. said. “The last time I faced Yosef I won by knockout
in Japan but this rematch on Oct. 1 will be a tough fight. I will
do everything I can to bring this victory back to Brazil!”
Mohammad wasn’t too keen on what transpired and says his mistakes were being too carless and letting his foe off the hook.
“Fernando knows that ring saved him,” said Mohammad. “He did not win that fight, I gave him the fight by being too careless going after him. I knocked him out of the ring and that allowed him time to recover. He knows it. This time he has nowhere to run and I will definitely not do the same mistake again. Once that cage door closes he will be left for dead. I will put him out, give him a hug after and I will tell him to keep his head up, that trying is not a sin and that I am sorry for the damage done.”
Euro FC 1 will be anchored by a catch-weight battle between Tom Niniimaki and Johnny Bedford. A full undercard will be announced in the coming weeks.
