Now that Dana White and Tito Ortiz have
buried the hatchet, could the “Huntington Beach Bad Boy” be
thrust back into the limelight at UFC 103?
San Jose MMA Examiner Phil Lanides thinks so, and I have to admit, a clash with Rich Franklin makes a lot of sense for the UFC. The promotion gets a solid and marketable main event that will likely please both longtime and TUF-era fans. Also, in a battle of past champions, both parties are probable to exit the fight without damage to their reputations as perpetual contenders.
Plus, it sure doesn’t hurt that Mr. Jameson knows how to promote the heck out of an upcoming bout. Although Zuffa does not publicly release financial information, Ortiz's rematch against Chuck Liddell at UFC 66 is widely speculated to hold the organization's pay-per-view buy record, which is believed to be in the neighborhood of one million purchases.
