PBC on Spike Weigh-in Results: Jacobs, Mora On Weight for Rematch
Ever since “The Miracle Man” conquered cancer, he has been laying
waste to everybody put in front of him. On Friday night, Daniel
Jacobs will have another opportunity to add to his
already-impressive resume but it likely won’t be as easy as his
last few bouts.
Premier Boxing Champions will once again give fight fans a night of pugilism on Spike as Jacobs will defend his WBA middleweight title against rival Sergio Mora. The title fight anchors the latest edition of PBC on Spike, which airs live at 9 p.m. ET/6 p.m. PT from inside Santander Arena in Reading, Penn. The co-feature will see Richard Commey take on Robert Easter for the vacant IBF lightweight title.
After a week of build-up and trash talk between the two camps, both
Jacobs and Mora finally hit the scale to hurdle on Thursday the
last barrier between their highly-anticipated rematch. Mora
(28-4-2, 9 KOs) hasn’t fought since losing to Jacobs last August.
In that fight, “The Latin Snake” survived a knockdown in the first
to do the same to Jacobs, only to have his ankle badly injured in
the second after suffering another knockdown, thus ending the fight
in anticlimactic fashion. Mora will have a chance at redemption on
Friday and he looked as ready as ever at the scale. Mora came in
looking lean and weighed in officially at 159.3 pounds.
Jacobs, meanwhile, followed up his triumph over Mora by obliterating Peter Quillin in shocking fashion as he knocked “Kid Chocolate” out in just 85 seconds in December. His unfinished business with Mora will conclude on Friday and, like his adversary, Jacobs (31-1, 28 KOs) was nearly perfect at the scale. Jacobs came in at 159.6 pounds.
Commey (24-0, 22 KOs) is the next in a long line of great fighters from Accra, Ghana. He’ll get his first crack at a world title when he takes on Easter and at the scales, he nailed it. Commey came in officially at 135 pounds while Easter (17-0, 14 KOs) will be aiming to do the same as his foe. The Ohioan weighed in at 134.5 pounds.
