ShoBox to Celebrate 15th Anniversary with Quadrupleheader on July 22

Showtime announced that its long-running prospect-orientated boxing series will have a massive show on July 22. The cable giant is set to unleash four intriguing bouts on the telecast to celebrate the 15th anniversary of ShoBox: The New Generation, which will unfold from within Foxwoods Resort Casino in Mashantucket, Conn.

Headlining the event will be a 10-round bantamweight skirmish between unbeaten Adam Lopez and Roman Ruben Reynoso. An eight-round super middleweight tussle between Ronald Ellis (12-0-1, 10 KOs) and Julius Jackson (19-1, 15 KOs) will serve as the co-feature.

Lopez (15-0, 7 KOs) has been feasting on quality opposition lately as the prospect has taken out three consecutive unbeaten foes on ShoBox telecasts with a combined overall record of 44-0-2. Reynoso won’t be any easier for the Texan, but he is prepared for his upcoming foe and with a new mastermind in his corner, he’s ready to continue his upward surge.

“I have switched trainers to Ronnie Shields in Houston,” Lopez said. “I see a lot of improvement since my last fight. Reynoso is a good fighter from Argentina. He is in Canada now, so I am sure he is getting good sparring there. He is kind of wild, but guys like that are hard to fight because you don’t know where the punches are coming from, but we will be prepared for anything.”

Reynoso (18-1-1, 7 KOs) has gone 15-0-1 since losing his only pro fight. The Argentinean hasn’t taken on quite as strong of competition as Lopez, but that’s not stopping him from trying to score what would be a minor upset when they lock horns.

“We know that Lopez is tall for 122 pounds and he has good hand speed,” Reynoso said. “He has a good name and we will try to learn more in the next few weeks. This is a big opportunity for us and we will do our best. This is a big fight and we know we have to win. With a win, we would hope to get a world title opportunity.”

Also set for the card will see featherweight prospect O’Shaquie Foster (10-1, 7 KOs) taking on Rolando Chinea (12-1-1, 6 KOs) in an eight-rounder while Khiary Gray-Pitts (13-0, 10 KOs) will stand opposite Ismael Garcia (10-0, 4 KOs) in an eight-round junior middleweight affair.

Showtime will televise the action live starting at 10 p.m. ET/7 p.m. PT.
