Snipes Recruits Gracie, Silva for Movie
Once Sylvester Stallone’s Ben-Gay-encrusted “The Expendables” did modestly impressive business over the summer, you have to figure a B-list knock-off was coming. Michael Dudikoff can stop holding his breath, as Variety reports that Wesley Snipes is heading the cast of “Master Daddy,” an “action comedy” of indeterminate plot elements that will feature Chuck Norris, Sonny Chiba, Anderson Silva, and a Gracie listed by Variety only as “Gracie.” I’m assuming Royce, although Renzo is more charismatic and Ralph’s ears effectively make him the Clark Gable of the family.
Tayrona Media Group, the film’s producer, has an iffy track record: while they headed the effective drug-mule independent “Maria Full of Grace,” they’re allegedly also responsible for a buddy movie starring Joey Lawrence and -- really -- Michael Dudikoff. “Daddy” is almost guaranteed to be awful, but some movies need to be seen for entirely different reasons other than narrative intrigue. Jeff Speakman, as always, is free to discuss this matter further.
