Top 5 Forum Threads of the Week
Referee Josh Rosenthal found himself at the center of controversy in the wake of Chris Weidman’s violent knockout against Mark Munoz in the UFC on Fuel TV 4 main event on July 11 in San Jose, Calif. After Munoz was felled by a standing elbow and went face first to the mat, Rosenthal allowed Weidman to tee off with a series of unabated punches.
Fans, media, fighters and even UFC President Dana White were quick to jump on the veteran referee’s perceived inaction. Was it the worst stoppage ever? It seems officials can never win. If they stop the fight too soon, people complain. If they stop it too late, they complain just as loudly.
Plenty of other subjects made the rounds on the Sherdog.net forums this week, including Strikeforce champion Ronda Rousey’s revealing photos in ESPN the Magazine, Weidman’s emergence and a potential showdown between Jon Jones and Anderson Silva.
