By The Numbers: Alex Silva vs. Rene Catalan

Strawweight rivals will renew acquaintances when Alex Silva rematches Rene Catalan in a One Championship “NextGen 3” featured attraction on Nov. 26 at Singapore Indoor Stadium in Kallang, Singapore. A former Brazilian jiu-jitsu world champion and longtime black belt, Silva submitted Catalan with an armbar in their first encounter eight-plus years ago.

Operating out of the star-studded Evolve MMA camp in Singapore, Silva has lost two of his past three bouts. He last appeared at One Championship “Battleground 2,” where he took a three-round unanimous decision from Li Tao Miao on Aug. 13. Catalan, meanwhile, enters the cage on a two-fight losing streak. He last competed on Dec. 4, 2020, when he was on the receiving end of a head kick knockout from Bokang Masunyane just 37 seconds into the first round of their One Championship “Big Bang” pairing.
