Maycee Barber (6-0) has quickly turned heads after her dominant performances since turning pro in 2017. Undefeated at 21, Barber has a whole future ahead of her, and is in fact touted as one of women’s mixed martial arts’ brightest prospects.

For her upcoming bout at UFC Fight Night 148 on Saturday, the woman they call “The Future” moves up to flyweight to challenge a tough J.J. Aldrich (7-2), who is on a three-fight winning streak.

Let these numbers show why Barber can break that run and carve a name in her new division. Her ultimate goal? To become the youngest ever Ultimate Fighting Championship champion.

36: Inches of leg reach. Barber has excellent kicks, owing to her extensive Kenpo karate training. She started training at the age of three and is now a second degree black belt as well as the head instructor and co-owner of Fort Collins Martial Arts Academy/Gracie Jiu-Jitsu Fort Collins. She is also a purple belt in Gracie jiu-jitsu under Ryron and Rener Gracie.

20: Seconds was how long her first and only amateur fight lasted. Barber stopped Christina Breault early in the first round after dropping her with a solid left hand. “The Future” was only 18 then, and after that fight, she turned pro.

4: Fights under the Legacy Fighting Alliance banner. Barber submitted Itzel Esquivel and Kaila Thompson, knocked out Audrey Perkins and decisioned Mallory Martin.

31: Seconds is her fastest finish to date, and that is her submission victory over Thompson. Coming into the fight, Barber predicted a first-round finish, and she did just that with a slick rear-naked choke.

1: Fight in Dana White’s Tuesday Night Contender Series. In that bout with Jaimee Colleen, Barber landed 112 significant strikes, including a few vicious elbows that ended the fight at 4:15 of round three.

68: Significant strikes landed on Hannah Cifers in their UFC Fight Night 139 encounter. Barber broke into the big league with a ruthless second-round stoppage of Cifers.

4: Fights in 2018. Last year was busy for the Colorado native as she fought four times. In her maiden year as a professional, Barber fought two times.

83.3: Percent finishing rate. Barber has three wins by KO or TKO, two by submission and only one by decision. She boasts two finishes inside the first round.

70: Percent striking accuracy in UFC competition. Of the 97 significant strikes she has attempted, Barber landed 68 -- 46 of which were to the head, 16 to the body and six to the legs.

20: Percent takedown accuracy inside the Octagon. In her fight with Cifers, Barber completed one out of the five takedowns she attempted.

20: Years of age. Barber was born on May 18, 1998 in Greeley, Colorado. As aforementioned, she is the owner of Fort Collins Martial Arts Academy, which she opened in 2010 with her parents. She now calls Bellvue, Colorado, home. Advertisement
