By the Numbers: UFC Fight Night 145
The move to light heavyweight continues to pay dividends for Thiago Santos.
The Brazilian defeated Jan Blachowicz via technical knockout in the UFC Fight Night 145 main event on Saturday, finishing his triumph with a barrage of ground-and-pound 39 seconds into the third stanza. “Marreta” has set himself up nicely for title consideration at 205 pounds, especially considering he owns a victory over current No. 1 contender Anthony Smith at middleweight. Blachowicz, meanwhile, saw a four-bout winning streak come to an end.

11: KO/TKO victories in UFC competition for Santos following his third-round stoppage of Blachowicz. The Brazilian is now tied with Anderson Silva and Anthony Johnson for second-most knockouts in promotion history. Only Vitor Belfort (12) has more.

6: Submission wins in UFC competition for Struve. That’s good for second all-time in heavyweight history behind Mir, who has eight wins via tapout in the Octagon.
13: Heavyweight UFC wins for Struve. The 31-year-old Dutchman ranks fourth in the division in that category behind Arlovski (16), Mir (16) and Junior dos Santos (14).
25: Significant strikes landed by de Lima. By comparison, Struve failed to land a single significant strike in victory. The Brazilian landed all of his offense in the opening stanza, when he floored Struve and spend the duration of the round in top position. De Lima also held a 65-to-0 edge in total strikes.

4: Consecutive victories for Petr Yan following his unanimous decision triumph against former flyweight title challenger John Dodson. That ties the Russian with T.J. Dillashaw, Marlon Moraes, Alejandro Perez and Jose Alberto Quinonez for the longest active winning streak in the bantamweight division.
50: Significant strikes by which Yan outlanded Dodson. “No Mercy” got stronger as the bout progressed, outlanding his foe 18 to 11 in round one, 32 to 15 in round two and 30 to 4 in round three. The deficit was Dodson’s largest since being outlanded by 70 significant strikes in a five-round loss to Demetrious Johnson on Jan. 26, 2013.
17: Fights in UFC history to end at 4:59 of the opening frame after Dwight Grant put away Carlo Pedersoli Jr. with one second left in the opening frame of their welterweight tilt.

2: Takedowns landed, in three attempts, by Damir Hadzovic in a second-round technical knockout win against Polo Reyes at lightweight. Those were the first two takedowns landed for Hadzovic in five UFC appearances. “The Bosnian Bomber” had only attempted one takedown in his four previous bouts.
105: Total strikes landed by newcomer Ismail Naurdiev against Michel Prazeres. By comparison, Prazeres landed just 15. Naurdiev, the largest underdog on the card, ended Prazeres’ eight-bout winning streak in a unanimous decision triumph.
1,470: Days since Prazeres’ last defeat in the Octagon, a decision defeat at the hands of Kevin Lee at UFC Fight Night 60 on Feb. 14, 2015.
40: Significant strikes by which Carlos Diego Ferreira outlanded Rustam Khabilov in their preliminary lightweight scrap. That included a 35-to-13 advantage in the final stanza. Ferreira won a unanimous decision, ending Khabilov’s six-fight Octagon winning streak.
9: Takedowns successfully defended by Ferreira. Khabilov landed only three of his 12 attempts in the bout and failed on all six tries in the third frame.
