Cage Rage Fighters Make Weight and Feb. Matches Announced

LONDON, Dec. 2 — The Cage Rage weigh-in was low-key and efficient today, with every fighter making weight with the minimum of fuss.

By tradition this event is usually highlighted by at least one fighter losing control of his aggression, but this time around there was just a spot of head shoving between British fighters Alan Murdoch and Dave Legeno — and even then there was little to worry about.

In a faintly amusing incident, some joker dared Alex Reid (Pictures) to cement his metrosexual reputation by weighing-in wearing some sort of sparkly silver number. The sight of Mr Reid’s goodies was too much for poor Daijiro Matsui (Pictures), who found himself utterly incapable of keeping a straight face during their photo shoot.

With apologies, my preview of this event did not mention the lightweight match between Gesias “JZ” Cavalcante, of the American Top Team, and judo player Michihiro Omigawa (Pictures). This match replaces the previously advertised bout between Tyrone Glover (Pictures) and Luiz Firmino (Pictures) and will also be billed as a “PRIDE Bushido challenge match.”

The real story of the day, however, is about Cage Rage 15. Only a few of these fights are confirmed, but if Cage Rage gets its way, then on February 4 we will see:
