The Walkmen: ‘The Ultimate Fighter 23’ Finale
Joanna Jedrzejczyk retained her Ultimate Fighting Championship women’s strawweight title with a unanimous decision over archrival Claudia Gadelha in “The Ultimate Fighter 23” Finale main event on Friday at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. Judges cast scores of 48-46, 48-45 and 48-46 in Jedrzejczyk’s favor.
While the fighters put their health and safety on the line inside the cage, their tastes in music provided another layer of intrigue.
Jedrzejczyk strolled to the Octagon to Polish rapper Gutek’s “Przejmji Ster W Swoje Dlonie” before outlasting her Brazilian challenger across five rounds. Meanwhile, Gadelha rolled with the champion’s pre-fight “jungle” reference and opted to go with the Guns N’ Roses classic “Welcome to the Jungle” as her walkout song.
Other standout tracks included AC/DC’s “Shoot to Thrill” (Amanda Bobby Cooper), Bone Thugs-n-Harmony’s “Thuggish Ruggish Bone” (John Moraga), 50 Cent’s “Many Men” (Josh Stansbury) and Ted Nugent’s “Stranglehold” (Andrew Sanchez).
