Bellator Reality Show to Include Welterweights, Lightweights; Open Tryouts at ATT on Nov. 10
Bellator Fighting Championships has announced that it will hold tryouts for its upcoming reality show at the American Top Team gym on Nov. 10.
Lightweights and welterweights over the age of 21 with at least three fights’ professional experience are invited to try out at the Coconut Creek, Fla.-based facility from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. ET. All prospective candidates must be over the age of 21 and have a career winning percentage better than .500.
Earlier this year, Spike TV announced that it would partner with “The Amazing Race” co-creator Bertram van Munster to produce a non-scripted series for the Chicago-based organization. While many of the details for the show remain unclear, it is anticipated that the content will include live fights.
Bellator’s reality show is expected to debut on Spike sometime in 2013, when the promotion also begins broadcasting its events on the cable network. Currently Bellator airs on MTV2, another Viacom-owned cable station. The media conglomerate purchased a stake in Bellator in 2011, and it was announced soon thereafter that Spike would be the home of the promotion in 2013.
