Darren Elkins will face Hacran Dias in a featherweight clash at UFC Fight Night “Machida vs. Dollaway” in Barueri, Brazil, on Dec. 20.
The promotion’s Brazilian branch announced the pairing on Tuesday. The event takes place at Jose Correa Arena and is headlined by a middleweight showdown between recent title challenger Lyoto Machida and surging contender C.B. Dollaway.
After a five-fight tear from June 2011 to March 2013 moved Elkins into featherweight contention, the 30-year-old has alternated wins and losses in his last four promotional appearances. Most recently, Elkins won a split decision against Lucas Martins at UFC 179.
Dias enters the bout on a two-fight losing streak, albeit against difficult competition. After beginning his Octagon tenure with a three round-verdict over Iuri Alcantara at UFC 147, the Nova Uniao product known as “Barnabe” has dropped consecutive decisions to world-ranked foes Nik Lentz and Ricardo Lamas in his last two outings.
