“We are traveling on Oct. 9,” said Ismail. “He will train for almost two months in there. Albarracin has [Henry] Cejudo and his brother there, and a nice group of sparring. Deiveson is also bringing his new nutritionist with him this time.”
Always thinking two steps ahead, Ismail abruptly changed topics from Figueiredo to another one of his fighters, Paulo Costa. He commented that “Borrachinha” is in great shape and focused on his return against Marvin Vettori on Oct. 23. The manager also noted that Costa is paying attention to MMA legends crossing over into boxing, and that the former title challenger might want to get in on the action.
“Those [boxing] events were great,” Ismail admitted. “We have to applaud [Vitor] Belfort and Anderson [Silva]’s standup. When everybody thought they were done, 44 and 46 years old, they reinvented another way to make a lot of money by fighting. Of course, [Costa] would love to fight boxing challenges, but his focus right now is 100% on Vettori and getting the UFC belt. But for sure, in the future, [boxing] is something he would love to do.”
