Ebersole-MacDonald, Patrick-Attonito Set for UFC 140

A pair of welterweight bouts has been added to the UFC 140 fight bill, as promotion officials announced Tuesday that Brian Ebersole will take on Rory MacDonald while Claude Patrick meets Rich Attonito.

The promotion’s second trip to the Canadian province of Ontario, UFC 140 is expected to emanate from the Air Canada Centre in Toronto on Dec. 10. A headlining attraction for the show has yet to be announced.

An 11-year pro, Ebersole (Pictured) has not lost since suffering a defeat to future Bellator middleweight champion Hector Lombard in 2008. Since that time, “Bad Boy” has rattled off nine straight victories. The 30-year-old has found success in each of his first two UFC appearances this year, outpointing Chris Lytle in February before knocking out Dennis Hallman with vicious ground-and-pound at UFC 133 on Aug. 6.

MacDonald, 22, has only tasted defeat once in his young career, notching an Octagon record of 3-1 in his last four fights. The young Canadian debuted successfully for the world’s largest MMA promotion in 2010, submitting veteran Mike Guymon with an armbar before giving former WEC champion Carlos Condit all he could handle before falling by technical knockout with only seven seconds remaining in their UFC 115 contest. MacDonald rebounded from the loss in 2011, however, dominating Nate Diaz and Mike Pyle in April and August, respectively.

After dropping his second pro contest back in 2002, Patrick has yet to lose. “The Prince” has been perfect through his three-fight UFC stint, earning victories over Ricardo Funch, James Wilks and most recently Daniel Roberts on April 30. Patrick controlled the Cesar Gracie Jiu-Jitsu representative at UFC 129, gaining top position in much of the bout while riding out a unanimous decision in front of a hometown crowd in Toronto.

Known as “The Raging Bull,” Attonito began his UFC career as a middleweight, knocking out Jamie Yager and outpointing Rafael Natal in 2010 before running into Dave Branch later that year. Following his unanimous decision loss to Branch, Attonito made the cut to welterweight, outpointing Roberts at UFC Live 4 on June 26 in Pittsburgh. The 34-year-old American Top Team export holds four of his 10 career victories by knockout and has only been finished twice since his 2004 pro debut.
