Paul Daley has a new opponent for his headlining bout at BAMMA 16.
British Association of Mixed Martial Arts officials announced on Thursday that Daley’s original foe, Igor Fernandes, broke his leg and will not be able to compete on Sept. 13. As a result, “Semtex” will instead face Marinho Moreira da Rocha in the evening’s main event at the Victoria Warehouse in Manchester.
Daley, who recently rejoined the Bellator roster, has won four of his last five fights. The hard-hitting British welterweight last appeared at BAMMA 14, where he scored a second-round knockout against Romario Manoel da Silva on Dec. 14. It is unclear when Daley will return to the Bellator cage.
A product of the Coalizao Fight Team, da Rocha is 28-6 as a professional. The 31-year-old Brazilian has earned 21 of his career triumphs by way of knockout or technical knockout.
