EFC joins WADA
May 3, 2015 Comments
(PRESS RELEASE) -- Johannesburg, South Africa – Since the inception
of the organisation, EFC has spearheaded the growth, development
and safety of MMA throughout Africa. Up to now and in association
with Drug Detection International, EFC has funded and run its own
anti-doping program which followed the strict guidelines of The
South Africa Institute for Drug-Free Sport. As of today and going
forward EFC officially falls under The South Africa Institute for
Drug-Free Sport which enforces the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA)
code. Although the organisation was guided by WADA, EFC now
officially follows the WADA code which is considered to be the
strictest anti-doping code in world.
“Athlete safety is our utmost concern, and this is another step forward as we strive to be the world leaders in MMA safety”, said EFC President Cairo Howarth. He added, “As far as we know, at this stage we are the only MMA organisation in the world to be part of WADA”.
