Video: Manny Pacquiao Dominates, Stops Lucas Matthysse to Win WBA Welterweight Title
Manny Pacquiao might not have turned back Father Time, but the future hall of famer certainly looked good on Saturday night.
Pacquiao dominated former junior welterweight world champion and reigning WBA welterweight titlist Lucas Matthysse inside Axiata Arena in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, eventually stopping him in the seventh round. Pacquiao used his traditional right jab and lead left to confound the Argentinean throughout, preventing him from finding an offensive rhythm.
Pacquiao dropped his opponent with a stinging left uppercut through the guard in the third, forced Matthysse to take a knee from rights to the head in the fifth and then finished him off in the seventh. The final blow was another left uppercut to the face, forcing Matthysse to his knees. Referee Kenny Bayless opted to wave off his count midway through when he realized the downed fighter was a beaten man and wasn’t getting up.

The end came officially at 2:43 of the seventh, giving “Pac Man” his first knockout since 2009.
