Boxing: Adamek-Molina Lands U.S. Pay-Per-View Home
Former cruiserweight and heavyweight champion Tomasz Adamek and
Eric Molina will clash on April 2 at the Krakow Arena in Krakow,
Poland. Until recently, American fight fans had no way of watching
their showdown.
On Wednesday, Main Events announced that the heavyweight showdown will be televised live thanks to Integrated Sports Media. The telecast will be aired live at 2 p.m. PT/11 a.m. PT and will be available for $29.95. The event will be available to customers of DISH Network, DirecTV, iN Demand and Vubiquity in the U.S. Canadian viewers can catch the action on Rogers TV and SaskTel.
Adamek (50-4, 30 KOs) bounced back from a dreadful 2014 in which he
lost back-to-back decisions to Vyacheslav Glazkov and Artur Szpilka
by stopping Przemyslaw Saleta in the fifth round in September.
The Pole edged Paul Briggs for the WBC light heavyweight title a decade ago before losing it to Chad Dawson after two defenses. He moved up to cruiserweight where he captured the IBF championship by topping Steve Cunningham via split decision in 2008. He defended the title twice before moving up to heavyweight, though he hasn’t yet won a major title at that weight. He came up short against then-WBC champ Vitali Klitschko in 2011.
Molina (24-3, 18 KOs) snatched up a few regional belts at cruiserweight and heavyweight before challenging WBC heavyweight king Deontay Wilder last June. The Texan was knocked out in the ninth but has since rebounded by taking out Rodricka Ray in the sixth.
The PPV telecast will also include a pair of 10-round cruiserweight showdowns: Mateusz Masternak (36-4, 26 KOs) will take on Eric Fields (24-3, 16 KOs) while Michael Cieslak (11-0, 7 KOs) will square off against Francisco Palacios (23-3, 14 KOs). Additional bouts to be aired are being determined.
