UFC hall of famer Randy Couture retired, in-ring, immediately after his loss to Lyoto Machida at UFC 129 on Saturday in Toronto. Felled by a front kick, Couture did not embarrass himself with the showing, as Machida was simply too fast and skilled.
Couture came to win, even landing a nice left hook in an early exchange.
Couture has always defined himself by taking on the next great challenge and succeeding at it, despite the odds and conventional wisdom. Retirement can be tough, given the downshift and sedate pace, but it would be nice to see “The Natural” put behind the microphone in some capacity. He was a great analyst at one time and would be a huge asset there again.
