Spike TV Broadcast of UFC 122 Draws 2.2 Million Viewers

Spike TV’s broadcast of UFC 122 “Marquardt vs. Okami” -- which took place last Saturday at the Konig Pilsener Arena in Oberhausen, Germany -- drew an average audience of 2.2 million viewers.

The three-hour, tape-delayed broadcast featured eight bouts and garnered a household rating of 1.4, according to figures released to Sherdog.com by the cable channel on Tuesday. In two key demographics, the program scored ratings of 2.16 with males aged 18 to 34, and 2.0 with males aged 18 to 49.

The show’s quarter-hour peak rating of 1.64 came at the top of its third hour, with the lowest (1.3) occurring at the very top of the broadcast.

The ratings mark a slight increase from the UFC’s last “numbered” event which aired on Spike, October’s UFC 120. Aired on tape delay from London, that broadcast attracted an average of 1.9 million viewers with a household rating of 1.3.

The event was headlined by a middleweight number-one contender bout between Yushin Okami and Nate Marquardt in which Okami earned a hard-fought split decision win. The card’s scheduled co-main event between Jorge Rivera and Alessio Sakara was scratched mid-show when Sakara withdrew from the bout due to illness, causing a welterweight bout between Duane Ludwig and Nick Osipczak to be promoted to the Spike broadcast.
