Poster Boy Making Moves
It may not be a rocket-powered rise to the top of the 205-pound division, but let there be no question: Jimi Manuwa is on the move.
While many were quick to critique the UFC's choice to headline an O2 Arena show in London with a Manuwa-Corey Anderson main event -- and in fairness, they were not really wrong -- “Poster Boy” came through in the clutch for his hometown faithful, landing a nasty lead left hook that turned “The Ultimate Fighter” winner into dust in just over three minutes.
The win was Manuwa's third in his last four bouts, having already taken victories over legitimate competition in Jan Blachowicz and Ovince St. Preux. With his latest knockout, Manuwa moves from seventh to sixth in the Sherdog.com light heavyweight rankings.
On a relatively lean weekend, there were not too many other movers and shakers, but that does not mean that the game was devoid of activity entirely. This edition of our rankings also sees Bulgarian former bubble lister Blagoy Ivanov slipping back into our contenders rankings at heavyweight. In addition, British welterweight Leon Edwards joins the 170-pound perimeter just outside of the top 10 courtesy of his fantastic win over Vicente Luque on Feb. 18.
