By The Numbers: Garry Tonon vs. Shamil Gasanov
Garry Tonon could hold the key to the immediate future of the One Championship featherweight division.
The five-time Eddie Bravo Invitational gold medalist will face the unbeaten Shamil Gasanov in the ONE on Prime Video 12 co-main event this Friday at Lumpinee Boxing Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand. Tonon made his long-awaited transition to mixed martial arts in 2018 and has yet to venture outside of the Chatri Sityodtong-fronted promotion. He last competed at ONE on Prime Video 6, where he subdued Jonathan Nunez with a kimura in the first round of their Jan. 13 pairing. Gasanov, meanwhile, steps into the cage with a perfect 9-0 record in tow. He last appeared on Oct. 21, when he dismissed Jae Woong Kim with a rear-naked choke a little more than two minutes into their ONE on Prime Video 3 confrontation.
