Sean Strickland might make some waves with his off-beat commentary, but the reality is that he’s a legitimate fighter to watch in the UFC’s middleweight division.

Strickland earned his most significant victory to date in the UFC Fight Night 200 headliner, as he relied on his solid boxing to take a split-decision triumph over Jack Hermansson at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas on Saturday night. The fight wasn’t as close as the scorecards indicated, and Strickland continues his remarkable ascent through the middleweight division, a run that has included a remarkable recovery from a motorcyle accident that occurred in 2018. It might not be too much longer before a title shot is in Strickland’s future.

Here is a by-the-numbers look at UFC Fight Night 200, with statistics courtesy of UFCStats.com.

6: Consecutive victories for Strickland. After a welterweight triumph over Nordine Taleb at UFC Fight Night 138, the former King of the Cage title holder has bested the likes of Jack Marshman, Brendan Allen, Krzysztof Jotko, Uriah Hall and Hermansson to establish himself as a person of interest at 185 pounds.

153: Significant strikes landed by Strickland. By comparison, Hermansson landed 137. Strickland outlanded his opponent 27 to 26 in Round 3, 34 to 27 in Round 4 and 38 to 26 in Round 5. Hermansson held a 26-to-22 significant strike advantage in Round 1, while both fighters landed 32 significant strikes in Round 2.

125: Significant head strikes landed by Strickland, whose weapon of his choice throughout the contest was his jab. Hermansson, meanwhile, landed just 22 significant head strikes. There was a large disparity in head strike accuracy as well, as Strickland landed 125 of 286 attempts for a 43.7 percent success rate, while Hermansson connected on just 22 of 194 tries — an 11.3 percent clip.

51: Significant leg strikes for Hermansson. Strickland landed just four significant strikes to the legs.

0: Takedowns landed in 8 attempts for Hermansson. “The Joker” has averaged 2.09 takedowns per fight in his UFC career, while landing 36 percent of his attempts.

21: Unofficial media scorecards, of the 21 tracked by MMADecisions.com, that saw the UFC Night 200 headliner in favor of Strickland, with scorecards ranging from 50-45 to 49-47. However, judge Sal D’Amato submited a 48-47 tally in favor of Hermansson, making the final outcome seem closer than it actually was.

11: Takedowns landed in 16 attempts for Nick Maximov against Punahele Soriano, a 68 percent success rate. That figure ties Maximov with Marvin Vettori for the most takedowns landed in a single bout in UFC middleweight history, though Vettori’s effort came in a five-round affair. Maximov also logged 8:45 of control time in the middleweight bout en route to a split decision triumph in Saturday’s co-main event. Maximov’s wrestling offset a 45-to-29 significant strike deficit in the bout.

14: Knockouts in UFC history stemming from wheel kicks after Shavkat Rakhmonov used the maneuver to dispatch Carlston Harris 4:10 into the opening round of their featured welterweight bout.

0-7-1: Record for Sam Alvey in his last eight promtional appearances. Alvey fell to short-notice foe Brendan Allen via second-round submission in a featured light heavyweight clash. Alvey’s eight-bout winless skid ties him with B.J. Penn for the longest in UFC history.

55: Significant strikes by which Bryan Battle outlanded Tresean Gore in a delayed matchup of what was originally slated to be “The Ultimate Fighter 29” finale. That included a 50-to-15 edge in the opening stanza, a strong start that propelled Battle to a unanimous decision triumph.

46: Significant body strikes for Battle. Gore, meanwhile, landed just 15.

303: Combined significant strikes landed by Julian Erosa (155) and Steven Peterson (148) in their featherweight bout. That checks in as the sixth most landed by two fighters in a 145-pound bout in promotion history. Erosa edged Peterson via split decision.

6: Featherweight victories since 2018 for Hakeem Dawodu, who outpointed Michael Trizano in a preliminary 145-pound matchup. That ties Dawodu with Calvin Kattar and Alex Caceres for the fourth most victories in the division during that period. Alexander Volkanovski, Giga Chikadze and Dan Ige are tied for the most since 2018 with seven wins apiece.

141: Significant strikes landed by Dawodu, topping his previous career best of 103 significant strikes set against Kyle Bochniak at UFC 231 in December 2018. Dawodu landed 60 significant strikes to the head, 52 to the body and 29 to the legs. Trizano, meanwhile, landed 70 significant strikes in defeat.

0:16: Time of Chidi Njokuani’s knockout victory over Marc-Andre Barriault in their preliminary bout, making it the second-fastest finish for a debuting fighter in UFC middleweight history. The fastest: Mark Weir’s 10-second KO of Eugene Jackson in his first promotional appearance at UFC 38 on July 13 2002. Njokuani’s work is also the third-fastest finish in UFC middleweight history overall.

5,208: Days as a professional before Njokuani’s first UFC appearance. A once highly-touted prospect and the younger brother of Octagon veteran Anthony Njokuani, “Chidi Bang Bang” made his professional MMA debut on Nov. 3, 2007.

171: Total strikes landed by Alexis Davis in a three-round verdict against Julija Stoliarenko in a preliminary bantamweight clash. It marks the fifth consecutive fight in which the former bantamweight title challenger has exceeded 100 total strikes in UFC competition. By comparison, Stoliarenko landed 93 total strikes in defeat.

21: Significant leg strikes landed by Davis. Stoliarenko landed just two significant leg strikes. Davis also outlanded her foe by a 43-to-4 count in significant ground strikes.

10: Consecutive finishes in professional MMA bouts for Jailton Almeida, who overwhelmed Danilo Marques with first-round ground-and-pound in his UFC debut on Saturday. Eight of those 10 finishes have occurred inside of a round for the Dana White’s Contender Series alum.

30: Significant ground strikes landed by Almeida in 2:57 of total fight time against Marques, who failed to land a single significant strike in a lopsided defeat.

8: Significant strikes landed by Philip Rowe in a technical knockout victory over Jason Witt that arrived at the 2:15 mark of Round 2. “The Fresh Prince” has finished five of his nine career triumphs via KO or TKO.

4: Takedowns landed in 7 attempts by Witt, who faltered once he couldn’t control the contest on the mat. Witt also logged 5:11 of control time in a bout that featured 7:15 of total Octagon time.
