Age and pro experience
Robertson versus Barber is a battle of young flyweights with an abundance of potential. Born on May 17, 1995, American Top Team’s Robertson is three years older than Barber, who celebrated her birthday on May 18. Barber started her career on a high note, tapping out one-time Invicta Fighting Championships standout Itzel Esquivel at Legacy Fighting Alliance on June 23, 2017. She went on to tally seven wins in as many fights.
Unlike Barber, Robertson didn’t have a successful debut, dropping a
decision loss to current UFC strawweight Hannah
Goldy in an event called Square Ring Promotions - Island Fights
37 held on March 11, 2016. Currently, she sports a record of
7-3.
Octagon appearances
After displaying her skills in five different promotions, Robertson tried out for The Ultimate Fighter 26. Unfortunately, she was stopped in the opening round by Barb Honchak, although she did land a spot at the finale opposite fellow debutant Emily Whitmire. Robertson made the most of her opportunity by submitting Whitmire in the first round. She has since been impressive in the Octagon, losing only once in five bouts.Barber fought four times at LFA before making her way to Dana White’s Tuesday Night Contender Series. With a devastating elbow finish of Jamie Colleen, she was taken in by the UFC and formally made her debut on Nov. 10, 2018, at UFC Fight Night 139. ”The Future” faced Hannah Cifers, who likewise fell victim to Barber’s elbows and lost by TKO. Barber’s second and last UFC fight was more of the same as she once again picked up a KO win.
Wins by knockout
Barber is a dynamic striker with four victories by KO or TKO, all four of which having come in her last four fights. Apart from Colleen and Cifers, she also knocked out Aldrich and Audrey Perkins. Robertson, on the other hand, has one knockout in her resume. She achieved the feat in her most recent UFC appearance, knocking out Sarah Frota at UFC 240.Wins by submission
Robertson’s slick ground game could be the key in her fight with Barber. With five of her seven victories coming by submission, the Canadian boasts an impressive 71 percent submission rate. Aside from Whitmire, her other victims in the UFC are Molly McCann and Veronica Macedo.Barber is no slouch on the ground, however. She owns two submission wins herself, both of which occurred in the LFA. Apart from Esquivel, she also tapped out Kaila Thompson.
