Fabricio Werdum: By The Numbers
Fabricio Werdum wants to make the most of the time he has left.
The two-time Abu Dhabi Combat Club Submission Wrestling World Championships gold medalist will serve as a short-notice fill-in for Mark Hunt, as he meets former M-1 Global champion Marcin Tybura in the UFC Fight Night 121 main event this Saturday at Qudos Bank Arena in Sydney. Werdum has alternated wins and losses in each of his past four appearances. The longtime Brazilian jiu-jitsu black belt last competed at UFC 216 on Oct. 7, when he needed just 65 seconds to submit Walt Harris with a first-round armbar. Werdum has compiled a 10-4 record in two stints with the Ultimate Fighting Championship, a run that includes a heavyweight title reign and victories against the aforementioned Hunt, American Kickboxing Academy ace Cain Velasquez, former Pride Fighting Championships titleholder Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira and “The Ultimate Fighter 10” winner Roy Nelson.
