The UFC’s Spanish branch confirmed the bout Monday on Twitter. UFC Fight Night 172 takes place at Vystar Veterans Memorial Arena in Jacksonville, Florida, and is headlined by a heavyweight clash pitting Alistair Overeem against Walt Harris. The card is expected to air on ESPN and ESPN+.
The 39-year-old Brown enters the matchup on a two-bout winning streak after scoring back-to-back knockouts of Diego Sanchez and Ben Saunders. Those fights came two years apart, as Brown initially announced that his November 2017 fight with Sanchez would be his swan song. Prior to his recent winning streak, “The Immortal had been mired in a rough stretch, losing five of six UFC appearances from July 2014 to December 2016.
A competitor on Season 3 of Dana White’s Contender Series, Baeza had a successful Octagon debut at UFC Fight Night 161, when he scored a second-round TKO of Hector Aldana this past October. The 27-year-old Florida native owns an 8-0 professional mark that includes six wins by knockout or technical knockout.
