By The Numbers: UFC Fight Night 229 Pre-Fight Edition

American Top Team’s Grant Dawson will attempt to take another step toward title contention in the Ultimate Fighting Championship lightweight division when he matches wits and fists with Bobby Green in the UFC Fight Night 229 main event on Saturday at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas. Meanwhile, Joseph Pyfer tackles Abdul Razak Alhassan in the three-round middleweight co-headliner at 185 pounds.

As UFC Fight Night “Dawson vs. Green” approaches, a look at some of the numbers the fighters on the card bring to the table:

13: Dawson wins by submission, accounting for 65% of his career total (20). His methods of choice: 11 rear-naked chokes, one triangle choke and one armbar.

104: Round started by Green as a professional mixed martial artist. The former King of the Cage champion has gone the distance on 20 different occasions and carries an 11-8-1 record in those bouts.

38: Years of age for Alhassan. The oldest fighter on the card, he was born on Aug. 11, 1985 in Accra, Ghana—some 7,400 miles away from UFC headquarters in Las Vegas.

1,152: Days since Pyfer last tasted defeat. The onetime Ring of Combat champion suffered a gruesome elbow injury that resulted in a first-round technical knockout loss to Dustin Stoltzfus during Week 2 of Dana White’s Contender Series on Aug. 11, 2020.

1,030: Significant strikes landed by Alex Morono as a UFC welterweight, placing him eighth on the promotion’s active list at 170 pounds. Only Neil Magny (1,356), Kamaru Usman (1,334), Tim Means (1,255), Stephen Thompson (1,186), Belal Muhammad (1,173), Vicente Luque (1,046) and Matt Brown (1,039) have been credited with more. Morono draws Joaquin Buckley in a three-round welterweight showcase.

12: Buckley victories by knockout or technical knockout, accounting for 75% of his career total (16). His list of UFC victims: Andre Fialho, Albert Duraev, Antonio Arroyo, Jordan Wright and Impa Kasanganay.

15: Consecutive calendar years in which Elevation Fight Team export Drew Dober has fought at least once. In addition to his 0-1 mark in 2023, he went 1-2 in 2009, 4-0 in 2010, 3-1 in 2011, 2-1 in 2012, 4-1 in 2013, 1-1 in 2014, 0-1 with one no contest in 2015, 2-1 in 2016, 1-0 in 2017, 2-0 in 2018, 1-1 in 2019, 2-0 in 2020, 0-2 in 2021 and 3-0 in 2022. Dober toes the line against former World Series of Fighting champion Ricky Glenn in a three-round lightweight feature.

32: Seconds needed for Glenn to dispatch Josh Henry with an armbar under the Midwest Cage Championship banner on Jan. 15, 2011. More than 12 years later, it remains the Team Alpha Male rep’s fastest finish to date.

150,000: Dollars in post-fight bonuses banked by Alexander Hernandez across his 11 outings in the UFC. The Factory X standout has been awarded “Performance of the Night” twice and “Fight of the Night” once. Hernandez squares off with Bill Algeo in a three-round featherweight appetizer.

.729: Cumulative winning percentage between the 22 fighters slated to compete at the event. They boast a combined record of 312-115-4. Green has the most victories (30) and losses (14) of anyone on the card.
