(PRESS RELEASE) -- Atlantic City, NJ – Just a few days after Cage
Fury Fighting Championships (CFFC) 28, the promotion is back with
back-to-back events this Friday and Saturday at the Valley Forge
Casino Resort in King of Prussia, Pennsylvania. On Friday, November
1, 2013, CFFC 29 will begin the weekend festivities with a main
event featuring the Ultimate Fighter and World Series of Fighting
veteran Jeff Smith
(10-2) taking on Brian
Kelleher (9-5) in a featherweight battle. Whoever wins this
bout will propel themselves in the title hunt.
Also featured on Friday night will be a heavyweight showdown of epic proportions when Pennsylvania’s own Azunna “Zu” Anyanwu (4-2) makes his CFFC debut against heavyweight prospect Paul Holt (1-0) hailing from New York. With Johnny Curtis taking the CFFC heavyweight title this weekend, a win here puts one of the heavyweights closer to CFFC gold. The rest of the card features CFFC mainstays including Christian Leonard (5-3), TUF alum Matt Secor (4-1) and Tommy Marcellino (4-2).
Then on Saturday night, CFFC Bantamweight Champion, Aljamain Sterling (7-0) will defend his title against Joel Roberts (9-4). This will be Sterling’s first appearance since his shoulder surgery which shelved him for over 14 months. Roberts is coming off a decision victory in his CFFC debut and has won six out of his last seven fights. The co-main event will feature two veteran lightweights looking to get closer to competing for the CFFC lightweight title when Darrell Horcher (7-1) takes on Mike Medrano (11-1). After willing his first seven fights, Horcher suffered his first loss by decision and hopes to erase that feeling with a strong outing against Medrano. After a life and career threatening scare, Medrano returned to the CFFC cage with a quick guillotine submission against Mike Santiago in just 31 seconds at CFFC 26. This event will also feature the return of Travis Wynn and a light-heavyweight battle between AMA’s Eric Hooben (1-0) against Eric Roncoroni (2-0).
Both events will also feature some of the best local amateur talent and will bring awareness to fight diabetes. For more information on the card, please visit www.CFFC.tv.
